Barry Batinkoff The Lure of Luxury

'Low Tide' is Barry Batinkoff's photographic art portfolio of the Surreal Bay World of images he captured in Provincetown (MA), and brought to life and expressed in this 'Low Tide' series.

This world opens daily when the plug is pulled from the ocean floor and the sea drains out leaving dune-like ripples among lakes of puddles and lawns of sand. It is the world where ant-like people appear on cue out of nowhere, having seemingly been let out of their cages (cabins). Small flotillas of boats lie on their sides pointing in the same direction unable to move. Buoys don't float, anchors don't anchor and automobile tires lay flat without cars. Families, children, lovers and pets come and play here.

Somewhere the plug is replaced and water creeps in noisily covering the sand ripples, refilling the bay. The ant-like people scatter and disappear. Families and pets leave. Boat float upright, buoys float too and dune floors disappear under water. Seaweed is nourished and the sea returns, magically engulfing the surreal world. Until tomorrow.
